Course Description
HISTORY (SPIN)
History; it’s so much more than dates and old dead people. At a time of increasing global and national tension, it is more important than ever for humanity to learn from our past mistakes and to understand the historical events and forces that have shaped our present. History allows us to analyse past events, wars, revolutions, and periods of peace to see what worked and what didn't so we can build on the successes of previous generations.
This course will provide students with an opportunity to develop a deep understanding of key historical events that have changed the world and our nation over the 20th century. Through analysing these events, you will understand the power we all have to make change and have a chance to think critically about the moral justification of world changing events.
If you are interested in the past, want to understand the present, like to form your own opinion and want to be equipped with the knowledge and critical thinking to change the world, then this course is for you. Level 1 and 2 NCEA credits are on offer.
