Course Description

DESIGN & VISUAL TECHNOLOGY

Design and Visual Communication is about responding to a variety of design problems, in this course, we focus on architecture and fashion design to prepare you for Q2 and Q3 DVC where you select your own design brief.

During Term 1 you will design a wearable product, this could be a piece of clothing, jewellery, a cultural item or avant garde, however, your inspiration will have a personal connection to you.

Over Terms 2 and 3 you will design a tiny home for student living, this will include making a model using the laser cutter and drawing your design on SketchUp. Photoshop and Indesign will be used to develop a presentation board of your final design concept.

You will work in sketchbooks and present your work on Google Slides through Google Classroom.

You will have the opportunity to be assessed at Level 1 and/or Level 2 depending on the detail and depth of your design process and final outcome.
